The largest carrier in the U.S., Verizon Wireless has been offering the Motorola Droid Turbo to its consumers and subscribers starting Thursday.

Consumers will be able to get their hands on the 32 GB model of the device for $199 as long as they are willing to sign a two-year contract. The smartphone is also available under Verizon's Edge plan for $25 per month. The 64 GB model is priced at $249 on-contract.

Motorola Droid Turbo is currently considered as one of the most powerful Android smartphones in the market. It packs a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution and a pixel density of 565 ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm's latest and fastest Snapdragon 805 chipset clocked at 2.7 GHz. The processor is paired to an Adreno 420 graphics chipset.

The device also packs 3 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal storage. It has a 21 MP camera at the back with support for 4K and slow motion video recording and 2 MP front-facing shooter. The smartphone sports a 3900 mAh battery that promises up to 48 hours of usage on a single charge, and it uses the Motorola Turbo Charger and Qi wireless charging.

The handset arrives with Motorola's Mobile Computing System that integrates natural language and contextual computing processors. Moreover, the device has a microUSB, a 3.5 mm jack, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n/ac, LTE, and, of course, support for Verizon's CDMA bands.

Meanwhile, the Motorola-made Nexus 6 is currently sold out in the Google Play Store, thanks to the handset's top-of-the-line specs and features. There is no word yet from Google or Motorola about the resupply of the new Nexus smartphone.

There is also no word from other retailers whether they will offer the Motorola Droid Turbo.
