Moto X+1 (X2) release date: Device is shown in final stages based on new leaked images

The rumored Moto X2 or Moto X+1 is reported to be released soon as new images of the handset leaked online.

Android Police obtained the photos of the Moto X2 which allegedly showed the handset in the final stages of production. However, Motorola has not announced anything official until now.

If compared to the previous Moto X handset, the new smartphone will be slightly larger than its predecessor. The photo also showed what seems like a customized wooden back, which hinted that customers can freely customize their Moto X2 smartphones at the Moto Maker.

The photo also showed that the Moto X2 or Moto X+1 will feature aluminum edges instead of the plastic material used to previous handsets. Aside from the slight changes in the design, the Moto X2 form factor was inspired by original Moto X.

Unfortunately, the photos did not reveal the hardware specs and features of the upcoming Motorola smartphone. It was rumored that the Moto X2 will pack a 5.2" display that offers 1080x1920p resolution. This is powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD support, 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter, and 2900mAh battery.

Although Motorola has not made an official announcement yet, Moto X+1 is expected to be unveiled in August. The handset will be accompanied by the company's smartwatch. However, the details of the supposed launch are still unknown.

It was initially reported that Moto X2 release date will be in August or September. If rumors proved to be true, the Moto X2 will battle with other high end smartphones such as the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Motorola's official announcement of the Moto 360 backed up the rumored release date this summer. There were reports that claimed that Moto X2 was reported to make an appearance at the IFA 2014 event in September.
