Moto X 2016 specs: Handset line coming September with faster processor and camera

 Motorola

The Motorola brand may be under the umbrella of Lenovo now but the company is still producing their own line of flagship phones. As stated in a report from Android Pit, Motorola is rebranding their former Moto X phones into the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, formerly referred to as the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play.

According to the report, the rebranded phones are expected to launch this coming September. However, Verizon is going to sell a rebranded version of the phones, called the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid, this summer, although a specific date has yet to be announced.

The report also points out that the Moto X Pure Edition came out with a $399 price tage and it is likely that the Moto Z and Moto Z Force will follow suit, likely bearing a $400 to $450 price tag. This may differ significantly from the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid given that Verizon will have their own price range for the devices.

It is further stated that the phones will have a 5.5-inch Quad-HD display that will take advantage of higher resolutions and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Both phones are stated to come with a 4GB RAM, although this may increase with the Moto Z Force. Both will come with a 32GB and 64GB memory storage options.

Both phones will be microSD-compatible and the internal storage can be expanded to up to a maximum of 2TB.

The Moto Z will have a 13MP rear camera while the Moto Z Force will have a more advanced 21MP rear camera. Their front-facing cameras will be locked at 5MP. While the Moto Z will have a 2,600 mAh battery the Z Force will have a 3,500 mAh battery. The phones will also sport fast charging, which can charge the phones in less than an hour.
