Moto G4 release date news: Full specs revealed; lineup reported to launch in June

Moto G4 2016 Motorola

The newly designed Moto G4 and G4 Plus, the fourth editions in the lineup, are designed by Lenovo, and according to a report from CNET, they are expected to launch this June. The regular Moto G4 is expected to be released first, around early June, while the G4 Plus model will come out a few weeks later. No official date has yet been announced.

According to the report, Motorola has announced that the G4 model will cost £169 while the G4 Plus will cost £199. However, the company has yet to make an official announcement regarding the prices in the US. Judging from the UK prices the costs for the phones in the US are estimated at $245 for the G4 and $285 for the G4 Plus.

Both models will come with a 5.5-inch display that pushes for full 1080 resolution and a 3,000 mAh battery that is said to last over 24 hours with mixed use. Both will be built with a Snapdragon 617 1.5 GHz octacore processor and a choice between 2GB and 4GB RAM and a choice of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB hard drive space.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be included with both models but the G4 Plus will have an edge with its inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, a microSD card slot that allows expansion up to 128GB, and it will have a 16MP rear camera. The G4 only comes with a 13MP rear camera. Both phones have a 5MP front-facing camera.

The Moto G4 and G4 Plus will also take advantage of the Moto Maker tool on the Motorola website that allows consumers to pick the color of their phone's casing and other customization options such as hard drive restrictions and more.

It is also explained in a report from PC Advisor that the new models will not have the same waterproof design as older models but will still come with the water-repellent nano coating from the Moto X.
