'Mortal Kombat' live-action series in the works

There's no reason for any grumbling as more "Mortal Kombat" goodness is being conspired by NetherRealms and Warner Bros.

Aside from the release of the game "Mortal Kombat X" in 2015 and a comic book dished up as the title's prequel, there will also be a new live-action "Mortal Kombat" series.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that its new digital content division, Blue Ribbon Content, headed by Sam Register, will be working on not one, not two, but three brand new shows.

"We are tremendously excited about Blue Ribbon Content's initial slate of development projects, and we are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of writers and producers on projects that they feel exceptionally passionate about," Register said via Hollywood Reporter.

"We look forward to delivering compelling and memorable programming for our fans and distribution partners," he added.

The series will reportedly include the "most storied characters" of the game as well as unfamiliar ones. Although it is unclear whether the "Mortal Kombat X" character roster will be the same set of characters to appear in the series, possibilities for this to happen is very likely, according to JBG News. This is due to the same manner of overture Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment made for the "Mortal Kombat X" combatants and the would-be live-action series fighters.

The "Mortal Kombat" live-action series is the latest announcement Warner Bros. has made following the confirmation of the "Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles" premiering on Machinima in 2015, and "Play It Again, Dick," a spinoff of "Veronica Mars" for CW Seed.

Meanwhile, gamers are curious about the characters in "Mortal Kombat X."  A fan who wishes to know if Sheeva will ever land as one of the playable characters in the game received a cryptic reply on Twitter from creator Ed Boon.

"Yup, sounds like a reasonable assumption," he cleverly answered to the inquiry.

Whatever Boon meant with his response, fans can be assured as early as now that there will be 24 fighters all uniquely garbed and equipped. Product Reviews on the other hand, bets on 16 DLC characters to be integrated. After all, "Mortal Kombat X" relies on a next-generation hardware in making immense and beautiful modifications possible.

Breathecast also reported that the game is going to be in single player and multiplayer modes. The former will also be heavy on Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Moreover, with a wide range of fighter skills and abilities in mind, the developers integrated difficulty levels.

"Mortal Kombat X" will be released for  Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC on Apr.14, 2015.
