Microsoft Surface Pro 4 specs: rumors of 14-inch display fly

 Microsoft

Although Microsoft kept mum about the upgrades for its tablet line up when Windows 10 was announced, rumors still broke the surface about the upcoming Surface Pro 4, especially with the tech firm slashing the price of its Surface Pro 3 tablet.

Without a doubt, the current Surface tablet from the Cupertino-based company is a combination of a workhorse and a plaything, but fans are already clamoring for details about the Pro 4's release.

The Surface Pro 3 is currently Microsoft's biggest tablet, measuring 12 inches, but a report from Chinese news website cnBeta, collated by Design & Trend, sees the Surface Pro 4 launching in two different sizes — one with a 12-inch display and another with a larger 14-inch screen, likely to compete with Apple's iPad Pro and other 14-inch tablets.

However, a larger size is sketchy at best, since the Surface Pro 3 has already established itself as an all-around work tablet. Non-deviation from design seems to be the course, as general manager for Microsoft's Surface line Brian Hall is quoted as saying that upcoming accessories "are designed with our product roadmap in mind and will be compatible with the next generation of the 'Pro' line of Surface. This commitment helps validate an investment in Surface Pro 3 and solidifies Microsoft's overall commitment to the continued growth of the Surface brand."

Meanwhile, tablet users with older Surface versions who wish to upgrade to the Pro 3 can take advantage of a deal from Microsoft. Valid until March 8, trade-in customers can get up to $650 credits for a Surface Pro 3 purchase. To trade in old Surface tablets, users can check out Microsoft's trade-in page to know how much their current tablet version is worth, and get redemption codes that act as discount vouchers for the purchase of a Surface Pro 3. Redemption codes are valid until April 8.
