Microsoft Surface Pro 3 lures Apple MacBook Air users to make the 'switch'

Will Microsoft Surface Pro 4 look exactly like the Surface Pro 3?

Apple and Microsoft are currently battling it out in the laptop market, with the former's MacBook Air and the latter's Surface Pro 3 being dubbed as rivals. Although consumers have different preferences, Microsoft is reportedly trying to woo Apple fans by setting up a website to help MacBook users switch to Surface Pro 3.

The website named "Making the Switch" explains the transition from Apple's OS X to Windows OS. It also details how users can transfer their files and photos from the MacBook Air to the Surface Pro 3. The website also teaches OS X users some Windows commands that they may not be familiar with. It appears that Microsoft is ensuring that everything will be taken cared of once they make the switch.

This move from Microsoft may not be taken lightly by Apple since it uses direct references. Until now, Apple hasn't openly reacted against Microsoft's attacks, but this could change.

Still, Microsoft may have a hard time convincing die-hard Apple fans, especially now that there are reports claiming that the Cupertino-based company is cooking up a more powerful laptop bound for release in the second quarter of 2015. According to DigiTimes, the new generation of MacBook Air will head into production early next year. This MacBook Air will reportedly feature a 12-inch Retina Display, Intel's Broadwell chipset, new USB Type-C port and better battery capacity.

As of the moment, Apple has not commented on Microsoft's strategy nor has it revealed any detail about the upcoming MacBook Air.

On the other hand, rumors say that Microsoft has plans of updating the Surface Pro 3 anytime soon. The successor will most likely arrive early next year to counter the new MacBook's release. Moreover, the i5 and i7 models of the Surface Pro 3 received a $100 price cut, bringing down the price of the i5 variant to $899 and the i7 model to $1,849.

Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement about its next laptop-tablet offering.
