Michael W Smith's 20th Album Recorded in London

|PIC1|Legendary Christian musician Michael W Smith is currently in the studio wrapping up his 20th album, a collection of original Christmas songs.

He recorded the album in London's famous Abbey Road Studios in May with a 67-piece symphony before the music was arranged by David Hamilton. He says the music is "epic, symphonic and cinematic".

Smith originally intended to record a classic Christmas album, but when he got into the studio, he was allegedly struck with a 'rush of inspiration' and wrote several pieces of original music.

The album will feature three choirs, one being The Choristers of Reigate St Mary's, a London based boy's choir directed by John Tobin and featuring 16 members in ages ranging from 8 to 12 years.

Last month, Smith was honoured by the Recording Academy at the "Grammy Salute To Gospel Music" event at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington DC.

Smith, along with The Clark Sisters and Dr Bobby Jones, was presented with the Recording Academy President's Merit Award which recognises the contributions that key individuals have made in the music industry and the impact their efforts have had on music and the business of music.

The Grammy Salute To Gospel Music event recognises those who have made significant contributions to gospel music, while supporting the history and importance of the genre.

Smith's Christmas album is set to release in October.
