Due to the media blackout surrounding the health recovery of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher following his 2013 skiing accident, very little about his recovery has been detailed to the public. However, a new report from Ecumenical News reveals that he is currently restricted to a wheelchair and his only means of communicating with his family is through his eyes.
It is undetermined how well he is progressing but it is said that he cries when he hears the voice of his wife and children. The report continues to state that he is still constantly monitored by 15 professional doctors within their retreat home in Geneva, Switzerland. These doctors are supervised by Professor Jean-Francois Payen.
Parent Herald also reports that Schumacher's wife Corinne is displaying strong will and determination to support her husband and that she is quite optimistic about his recovery despite the length of time it would take for him to recover or the kind of results that the recovery process can lead to.
Given that his only means of communication right now is through his eyes, it is speculated that he has yet to recover the ability to speak and make signals with his hands.
While the legendary Formula One racer is still reportedly confined to a wheelchair due to his current condition, his son Mike is currently making the headlines as he achieved his fourth victory in the ADAC F4 season. Making the victory even more notable is the fact that Mike is only 17 years old and that he started professional racing in 2015.
"It was close to begin with," Schumacher told SPORT1 (via Parent Herald) regarding the difficulties and struggles he faced in the race. "I struggled to draw away from Joey [Mawson]. He was very fast, but then things just clicked into place. I was able to pull away and push."
