'MasterChef' season 7 premiere: Show now searching for next set of contestants

"MasterChef" season 6 has just ended, with Claudia being crowned the Master Chef with a grand prize of $250,000 in cash, but casting for the next season is already open. Season 7, according to a report from Latin Post, won't air until spring 2016 but this gives time for the showrunners to audition applicants and prepare the contestants.

There are two options given for those who wish to audition for "MasterChef" season 7: they may either attend an open call or submit a video application. The latter, however, is an option only for those who really cannot attend an open call in person.

For the first option, interested persons must pre-register on the official casting call site page and download and fill out the application form. They will attend the open call in person, bringing their sample dish along with them. If a person cannot bring an application form when they attend the open call, one can be given to them while waiting in line.

As for the second option, a person must make their own video showcasing their dish. An application form must then be printed and filled. Both the form and the video must then be mailed physically to the "MasterChef" season 7 casting office.

Auditions will be accepted until 12 p.m. PST Oct. 9. It is noted that it is advisable to submit applications earlier.

Requirements include being at least 18 years of age by Jan. 1, 2016, a citizen or legal resident of the United States, must not be actively working as a professional chef, and must not have worked as a professional chef in the past. The main source of income of an aspirant must not come from preparing food in a professional environment such as in a restaurant.

The official site also has a detailed list of all the open calls across the nation, including their specific schedule and parking fees for the locations.
