MacBook Pro 2014 release date July 13; Best Buy cuts price of Apple iPads, Macs and MacBooks

MacBook Pro 2014 release date is slated to happen on July 13 as retailer Best Buy slashed the price of Apple's iPads, Macs and MacBooks.

In line with Apple's educational discount, the US retailer offers significant discounts to the company's tablets, laptops and desktop computers. The said discounts were part of Best Buy's Back to School offerings.

According to Tapscape, Best Buy is cutting a big chunk off the original price of Apple devices. Below are the prices of the discounted devices:

  • 11″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB/128GB) for $649.99
  • 13″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB/128GB) for $749.99
  • 21.5″ iMac (2.7GHz/8GB/1TB) for $1,048.99.
  • 16GB Silver WiFi iPad mini with Retina display for $329.99
  • 16GB Space Grey WiFi iPad mini with Retina display for $329.99
  • 16GB Space Grey or Silver WiFI iPad Air for $399.99

Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to enjoy the discounts. The deals are available only to students, teachers and school staff with an active .edu email address. This is in line with the educational discounts offered by the manufacturer.

The discount of $150 off Macs (even entry-level models) and $50 off iPads are available only until July 12. Many wondered as to why the retailer is ending the promo hallway through the summer and a month before school starts. This immediately sparks speculations that new models of the aforementioned devices could be rolling out late this summer.

There were previous rumors which stated that Apple may unveil devices earlier than usual. Thus, late summer instead of fall release date. Apple will surely roll out the next generation of its iPad line. Rumors are flying for months that Apple will update its low-cost iMacs.

Moreover, the company's entry-level desktop, Mac mini, has not been updated for a long time. Meanwhile, Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro were supposed to be updated this fall. However, it is still unconfirmed which particular devices the Cupertino-based tech giant will unwrap on the alleged launch.
