'Longmire' season 4 spoilers, cast: Ally Walker joins for mysterious role, Derek Phillips' return confirmed

Longmire A&E/Netflix

"Longmire" season 4 is currently in production and ever since the series made the move to Netflix, it has retained a certain aura of mystery. Very little information has been leaked at this point but according to a new report from TVLine, it has been confirmed that the cast is growing with the addition of actress Ally Walker.

Unfortunately, no details about her role or how many episodes she will appear in have been given at the time of writing. Walker's acting credits are impressive, to say the least, as she has appeared in "Sons of Anarchy," "Profiler," and "Tell Me You Love Me."

Derek Phillips, who portrayed Travis, will be returning this season as well. Phillips announced his return via Twitter by posting a photo of himself with the caption that read, "Travis is back on #longmire. About to go shoot a scene w/ @mamalou8 #FNL#FNLreunion#travismurphy"

How these two actors will blend into the current plot line of the series has yet to be seen but given the dark and gritty tone of the series thus far, they won't be in for quick feel-good cameos. Fans even speculate that Walker may be a law enforcer being brought in to take Longmire down.

It only makes sense since the season 3 finale ended on a shocking cliffhanger. Longmire believes Nighthorse had something to do with his wife's murder and rides off to confront him while Branch confronts Barlow. Barlow previously admitted he paid Nighthorse to hire Ridges to murder Longmire's wife, all in hopes of making Branch the new sheriff.

The finale ended with a gun firing off but it wasn't revealed who fired and who was shot.

"Longmire" was cancelled by A&E following the end of season 3 but the series was immediately picked up by Netflix, where it will premiere its fourth season this coming fall.
