While LG fans are waiting for the release of the LG G4, the company silently slipped in a 6-inch phablet with dual-edge curved screen display. LG Mobile's subsidiary, LG Display, unveiled this device with a form factor quite similar to Samsung's recently released Galaxy Note Edge.

One point of difference between Samsung's and LG's devices is that the latter has two curved edges. The 6-inch screen on LG's product has a 720p resolution while the Note Edge has a quad HD (2560 x 1440) pixel resolution. Still, the functions of the curved edges are similar, both serving as a dock for apps and features as well as for notifications. Users can use this screen extension for checking out missed notifications as well as for placing commonly used apps.

The name of LG's device is still unknown and the company has not revealed the specs and features under its hood, but LG Display said that the handset will be mass produced and may head for official launch at the Mobile World Congress in March.

It is most likely that this new device from LG will gain the same curiosity from fans as the Galaxy Note Edge has. The Note Edge is a unique concept for LG's competitor Samsung, but it garnered great interest and attention from consumers. Reports say that the Note Edge is more popular than its brother and Samsung's flagship phablet smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Another device from LG sporting a curved screen display is the LG G Flex 2, announced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The South Korean tech company worked on the screen display of the device and, as the technology has matured, made it better than last year's flexible Plastic OLED tech.

Meanwhile, the LG G4 is also anticipated to be released this year. Some reports say that the flagship smartphone will be announced at the MWC, while others think that the device will be released in May following last year's launch of the LG G3.
