LG Electronics is reportedly giving priority to LG G4 although its alleged launch is still months away. Word on the street is that LG is dropping some projects to make way for its flagship smartphone. According to reports, the South Korean tech giant cancelled its plans of making the LG G3 Pro and decided to pour all of its resources to the LG G4 instead.
The LG G3 Pro handset was supposed to be released right after the launch of its direct rival, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. However, the G Pro series fell below the company's expectations when it didn't perform so well in the market, thus LG may have taken its lesson from that experience.
Nonetheless, LG proved that it is a significant player in the smartphone market after it released a list of successful smartphones like the LG G3, LG Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. This adds fuel to speculations that the LG G4 will feature even better specs than its predecessors. According to rumors, the upcoming LG handset will have the following specs and features:
- 5.3-inch screen display with quad HD or 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution without bezels
- Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset with 64-bit architecture or LG's own octa-core processor dubbed as Nuclun
- 4 GB of RAM
- Android 5.0 Lollipop OS
- 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization technology
- 3500 mAh battery
- 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants with microSD slot for additional storage
LG G4 is reported to retain the reasonable price of the current G3 handset, which is somewhere within the $650 and $700 price range.
Meanwhile, the smartphone was initially speculated to have a May 2015 launch and a June 2015 rollout, following the LG G3 release schedule. However, recent whispers hint that the LG G4 release is pegged for an early launch in March at the Mobile World Congress 2015.
However, the South Korean tech company has not officially announced details about the device.
