The partnership between Lenovo and Intel is no longer new and the former already released smartphones powered with the Intel chipset. The two companies will confirm its bond by releasing another set of smartphones with Intel inside.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Chinese OEM manufacturer Lenovo is reported to release two smartphones both powered by Intel Atom processors with 64-bit architecture and mobile modem chips. One will target mainly the market in China, while the other will aim for emerging markets.

This is not the first time that Lenovo will release a smartphone with Intel chipset, Lenovo came up with Lenovo K900 that boasts 2.0 GHz Intel Atom processor paired with Intel graphics chip and 2 GB of RAM.

Intel continued to work with Lenovo being one of the renowned mobile manufacturers in China in order to penetrate the market.

Intel announced earlier this month that the company invested $1.6 billion over 15 years to upgrade a chip plant in China.

However, the details pertaining to the mobile phones were scarce, but the chip maker is confident in delivering both the CPU and modem chips. Intel has an edge because of LTE-Advanced technology, which was inherited when it acquired Infineon's wireless business.

However, Intel has a lot of work to do since it jumped into the mobile market later than others. The company did not think that there would be a boom in mobile devices and it chose to concentrate on improving its processors for PCs. PC sales declined sharply worldwide over the past few years.

Meanwhile, the company's rivals, ARM, Qualcomm and Samsung, currently dominate the market for making mobile chips. In an attempt to catch up in the market, Intel worked and continued to improve the performance of it x86 Atom platform while ensuring that it consumes lower power. Intel also integrates 3G and 4G modems into the chipsets.
