'Legends of Tomorrow' season finale spoilers: Booster Gold rumored to debut

Legends of Tomorrow - Booster Gold DC Comics

"Legends of Tomorrow" has been officially renewed by the CW network, and according to a report from TV Line, the team presented in season 1 will be back for season 2, despite some early confusion regarding a possible change in cast. Not only is the original team returning but the report also hints at the arrival of Booster Gold.

"I have it on good authority that a wholesale cast change is not at all in the cards," stated TV Line's Michael Ausiello. He then pointed down to the bottom of his report and indicated that the cast will be the same but now with a possible addition that will be introduced in the finale of the current season.

According to Ausiello, the finale will introduce a "beloved superhero from the DC canon" who comes with an enigmatic agenda that will serve as the launching pad for the plot of season 2. While not specifically giving out any names, it is now widely speculated that this new character is the DC superhero known as Booster Gold.

Booster Gold was first teased in "The Flash" season 2 when the characters traveled to Earth-2. While in this mirror image of their world, one of the background items is a Legion Flight Ring, indicating the existence of the Legion of Super Heroes.

It is also pointed out in a report from Screen Rant that major DC super heroes such as Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman are off the table given that they are being used to launch the DC Extended Universe films.

Booster Gold is also a highly likely candidate given he is also a time-traveling superhero and because in the comic books, it was later revealed that Booster Gold, a hero from the year 2442, is Rip Hunter's biological father despite the two coming from radically different time periods. Booster Gold was also a member of the Time Masters and future Justice League.
