Knowing Christ Jesus

"But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ."
-Philippians 3:7-8

How much do we treasure our Lord Christ? In this beautiful testimony, it becomes clear that all things that we considered pofitable and great, in our lives before we came to see Christ's love for us, are nothing compared to what we can gain in Christ.

Furthermore, if we become distracted by other things, such as money, work, studies and put these before Christ then we have lost some of what we could have had with the Lord. This is not to say that these things are bad - but it must be clear that compared to Christ nothing else can compare. Nothing else can fill up our hearts with the same satisfaction, peace and love that Christ can.

So why go chasing after material things of the world when the greatest treasure is right there for us? We have been given this treasure freely, a treasure that is eternal - we did not do anything to deserve it. But why then are so many of us blind and take in our hands the wrong treasure? If put next to knowing Christ, then all these things can be considered as rubbish compared to what can be gained in Christ.

Be wise! Now that you've seen clearly what is truly the greatest treasure, drop the rubbish in your hand and take hold of the most glorious treasure - Christ.
