Kenyan televangelist charged with causing death by dangerous driving

Ng'ang'a arrived under tight securty at court in Limuru

The controversial televangelist, James Ng'ang'a, has been accused of killing a woman while driving and covering up that he was behind the wheel.

Three others have also been arrested in connection with the crime which involved a collision with another car in July, killing a woman. Two police officers are among those charged.

The prosecutors allege that Ng'ang'a drove the Range Rover that killed a woman and then denied to police officers that he was the one driving the vehicle.

Ng'ang'a denied giving false information to the police, conspiring to defeat justice and failing to report an accident.

He spent last night in Gigiri police station before returning to court today where his bail was granted.

Pastor Ng'ang'a often shares his testimony to huge congregations from being a street child and spending time in prison to finding faith and starting a ministry. Now a wealthy businessman, the founder of Neno Evangelism Centre is well known for his powerful TV sermons.

He claims to heal people and exorcise demons as he preaches to huge congregations.
