Katy Perry hints at return to Christian roots as she gets older

She started out her musical career as Christian artist Katy Hudson before crossing over into the secular pop world and making her debut with her boundary-pushing 2008 hit 'I Kissed a Girl.'

Since that time Katy Perry has openly discussed her mixed feelings about how she was raised by her evangelical Christian parents, who have also been open about how their daughter's music choices have not been easy for them to accept.

As for her faith now as an adult, Perry told Marie Claire in 2013: 'I'm not Buddhist, I'm not Hindu, I'm not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God. I pray all the time—for self-control, for humility.'

Whatever feelings she might have about Christianity as a religion, she still seems to have a personal attachment to Jesus as she recently got a tattoo of him.

In her latest interview with Vogue Australia, Perry talked about how spiritual matters are becoming increasingly important to her.

'Now that I'm in my 30s, it's more about spirituality and heart goodness [for me],' she said.

Perry, 33, who is in a relationship with Orlando Bloom, 41, also revealed that her mother Mary is still praying for her to come back to the Christian faith wholeheartedly.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Katy told the August issue of Vogue: 'My mom has prayed for me my entire life, hoping I'd come back to God.'
