'Justice League' movie news: Green Lantern pushed out of the film

Despite the Green Lantern being one of the core members of the Justice League in the DC comics, a report from Entertainment Weekly confirms that the character won't be appearing in the DC Extended Universe films until after the first "Justice League" film or maybe even after that.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" producer Charles Roven explains that the character may appear in "Justice League: Part Two" but even that is not yet final.

"Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there's the possibility that he may or may not be in 'Justice League 2,'" explained Rovan in the report. "For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in 'Justice League 2,' or barring that, a movie after."

Warner Bros. President of Creative Development Greg Silverman also admitted that they did not do a very good job on the first "Green Lantern" film, which starred Ryan Reynolds as the titular character. He continued to explain that Green Lantern needs to be given the same attention and dedication that the studios are now giving to Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck).

Silverman continued to state that if the fans can be patient, they will be pleased with the end results, hinting that the film will be significantly better than the previously released movie.

At the time being there is no confirmed plot synopsis for the "Green Lantern" movie, but the rumors flying about suggest that the movie will not be about just one specific Lantern but about the whole Green Lantern Corps, with a focus on three Green Lantern characters such as Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner and John Stewart.

"Justice League: Part One" will release in theaters by Nov. 17, 2017 while the second film will release by June 14, 2019.
