'Justice League' 2017 cast news: Steppenwolf will be main villain; Other spoilers revealed

 Warner Bros. Pictures

A team from Collider recently visted the set of "Justice League," which is being produced by Deborah Snyder and directed by Zack Snyder, who previously helmed "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." During this set visit several key spoilers about the film were presented.

According to the report, the main villain is Steppenwolf, a lieutenant of sorts to the more powerful Darkseid. Steppenwolf was shown in a deleted clip that was cut from the theatrical release of "Batman v Superman" and is speculated to be the alien that informed Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) of Darkseid's future invasion.

However, the studios have not yet secured the contract with Steppenwolf's actor which is why they could not yet reveal who is playing the villain.

Deborah Snyder also confirmed that "Justice League" is not a two-part film despite previous promotional ads. The upcoming movie is a standalone and the sequel will be a standalone as well, similar to how "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" are solo films instead of being directly tied as sequels to each other.

An official synopsis was also released and it confirms that the film will see Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) forming the Justice League with other superheroes such as the Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).

According to the report, a big portion of the film will focus on three devices called Mother Boxes. One was shown in "Batman v Superman" as it is the device that ultimately forms Cyborg. The other two devices are with the Amazonians, the people of Wonder Woman, and Atlantis, home of Aquaman.

It is further stated that Zeus, father to Wonder Woman, will play a small part in the film. It is explained that the movie will open with a sequence set in the past and will tell how the Mother Boxes reached Earth. The report states this will be similar to how "The Lord of the Rings" opened with a sequence telling the history of the One Ring.

"Justice League" opens in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
