'Jessica Jones' season 2 release date: Teaser for fans in 'Defenders' trailer

Jessica Jones Netflix

With the San Diego Comic Con currently underway, Marvel TV and Netflix have begun sharing tidbits of information regarding their Netflix lineup connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the studios have not announced the official premiere date for "Jessica Jones" season 2, the characters' fate and involvement have been teased in the first trailer for "Defenders."

According to a report from Collider, the studios have released an exclusive teaser trailer and several images showcase the "Defenders" team working together. This team will include Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) as she fights alongside other New York heroes such as Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter).

The trailer did not showcase much information but it did reveal small snippets of an investigation regarding the identity of Iron Fist. At the tail-end of the trailer, Daredevil's trainer, Stick (Scott Glenn), is heard taunting the four Defenders. Stick claims that the group cannot save New York given that they cannot even save themselves.

Other parts of the trailer showcases other hints about the other members, such as small Easter eggs regarding Jessica Jones and Daredevil.

Fans also speculate that Stick, who is appearing in "Defenders," may appear in "Jessica Jones" season 2. It has been previously reported that Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) will be appearing in all of the Netflix shows from this point forward and it is likely that Stick will do the same. It is possible that Stick will be guiding Jessica Jones in her solo second season.

With "Defenders" premiering in late 2017, as reported by Collider, "Jessica Jones" season 2 is likely not going to premiere until early or mid-2018. This is due to Netflix prioritizing "Iron Fist," "Luke Cage" and "Defenders" first. "Daredevil" season 3 has also been confirmed and it is undetermined if it will air before or after the premiere of "Jessica Jones" season 2.
