iPhone 7 release news: What to expect from Apple's smartphone

The iPhone 7 could reportedly be a drastically different device from anything the company has previously offered.

The design of the iPhone 7 itself is expected to undergo a lot of changes.

Among the many rumored changes being suggested for the iPhone 7 is its home button, or to be more precise, its lack of a home button.

According to Apple Insider, the company is indeed planning to remove the home button, but that particular change may not arrive in time to be implemented for the iPhone 7. The source contacted by the website suggested that the removal of the home button from any Apple smartphone may not take place within the next couple of years, meaning that if it will be done, it will likely make its debut in a phone released sometime in the latter half of 2017.

Even though a home button-less iPhone 7 may not be in the cards, there are still drastic changes that Apple is supposedly looking into.

More specifically, the iPhone 7 could feature either curved or completely wraparound screens, according to ValueWalk. Apple has reportedly already filed the patent for something known as "sidewall displays," and that could constitute the makings of a new screen for the iPhone 7.

Another persistent rumor concerning the iPhone 7 suggests that the new smartphone might be waterproof. Waterproofing has thus far not been a focus for the company regarding their smartphones, so the rumor suggests a bit of a shift in thinking for the company.

As of now, the supposed new features being linked to the iPhone 7 are still unconfirmed and they may not show up at all.

Folks won't know until the new smartphone is released, and that may take a while. According to the Mirror UK, the iPhone 7 is not expected to launch until September of next year.

With no formal announcement yet from Apple, the only thing certain about the iPhone 7 is that it will remain a popular subject of speculation until the day it finally arrives.
