iPhone 6: Fake retail box leaks online

A fake retail box of iPhone 6 was reportedly making the rounds online.

TechRadar got hold of an alleged box citing an unnamed source who claimed to be an Apple beta tester. The report also said that it is not confident with the source who is new to them and was unable to verify the authenticity of the photos sent to the publication.

Another proof that the leaked photos were fake is because the Health app was not featured on the photo of the iPhone on the box. In the beta version of iOS 8 running on devices of developers worldwide, it is packed with the new Health app, which is one of the new features of Apple's operating system.

Based on the photos, iPhone 6 will pack a similar design to the previous iPhone 5S. Many expected that Apple will not drastically change the form factor of the next iPhone. Thus, the company will not steer away from its previous designs.

After the purported retail box went online, a lot of publications jumped in and claimed that it signals the imminent iPhone 6 release date. Latest reports claimed that iPhone 6 release date will be on Sept. 9, which is earlier than previous rumors that claimed that the handset will be launched on Sept. 19 based on previous iPhone releases.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the iPhone 6 will be available in two variants with one of the versions targeting the phablet category to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 set to be released September 3. This smartphone is set to pack a 5.5 inches screen display. The other variant is claimed to pack a 4.7 screen panel. The smaller version of iPhone 6 is rumored to be released in its usual launch window in September and the 5.5 inch phablet is rumored to be launched in October.

Other rumored features of the next iPhone 6 are 64-bit A8 processor, iOS 8, as well as improved fingerprint sensor and camera were some of the suspected features of the upcoming iPhone 6.
