iPhone 6 release date may be slightly delayed as the company was reportedly facing some issues in manufacturing the panels of the smartphones.
Reports claimed that Apple is having a hard time in manufacturing the screen and there is a need to redesign a key component in the panel to resume smooth production. Moreover, the issue could delay the launch of the smartphone or decrease the number of handsets produced each day.
Reuters cited sources from the supply chain saying that the backlight that illuminates the screen needed to be replaced. Thus, Apple held off the production for most part of June and July. The sources also added that the supplier was trying to make up for the lost time by fitting another layer of backlight film.
This is not the first time that issues were reported to have emerged in the production line of iPhone 6. Earlier, reports said that the company was having issues in producing the battery of the handset. This is mainly because the company was looking for a battery that could fit into the ultra-thin body.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the iPhone 6 will be available in two variants with one of the versions targeting the phablet category to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 set to be released September 3. This smartphone is reportedly set to pack a 5.5 inches screen display. The other variant is claimed to pack a 4.7 screen panel. The smaller version of iPhone 6 is rumored to be released in its usual launch window in September and the 5.5 inch phablet is rumored to be launched in October.
Other rumored features of the next iPhone 6 are 64-bit A8 processor, iOS 8, as well as improved fingerprint sensor and camera. The handset will be released in September just like last year.
