iPad Mini 5 release date, specs rumors: could launch with iPhone 7 and be renamed as iPad Pro Mini

iPad Mini 4, the current model available Apple

Apple has been silent regarding the potential release of the iPad Mini 5, leading many to wonder if the iPad Mini series has been cancelled all together. However, a report from the IBTimes reveal that rumors suggest it is still launching before the end of the year, potentially alongisde the iPhone 7, and may be renamed the iPad Pro Mini.

According to the report, the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 may be dropped or completely overhauled and merged into a single series of smaller iPads. The iPad Pro has proven to be a very popular choice for Apple consumers and a smaller iPad Pro may be the better option, which means the iPad Mini 5 could be re-branded as the iPad Pro Mini.

If this proves true the iPad Pro Mini aka iPad Mini 5 could launch this year, presumably in September alongside the iPhone 7 or in October. If it does then the device is speculated to be running on iOS 10 right out of the box and may be featuring the much faster A9 processor, giving it a significant improvement over the A8 used in the iPad Mini 4.

Rumors suggest that the tablet could feature an improved 8 MP camera from older iPad Mini models or a far more advanced 12 MP camera. It is also speculated to feature a more powerful front-facing camera although no specifics have yet been announced.

The iPad Mini 5 is also rumored to feature more advanced features such as more complex multitasking capabilities, partly thanks to iOS10, as well as 3D Force Touch on its touch screen, quick notification management and others.

It is important to note that Apple has yet to make any announcements and any information regarding the iPad Mini 5 should still be taken with a grain of salt. PC Advisor points out that analysts even predict that it won't be out this year and instead could launch in early 2017 alongside two other iPad models.
