iPad Mini 3 release date soon, previous models get discounts for Father's Day

iPad Mini 3 release date inches closer as the previous models of the device received discounts.

Retailer Target slashed the price of the two generations of Apple's iPad Mini. The 16GB of iPad Mini with Retina display now costs $369.99 from its original price of $399.99. Meanwhile, the first generation of iPad Mini is now offered at a much cheaper price. The non-retina version is now available for just $199.99, which is $100 off its original price.

The tablets received discounts as part of the store's promotional campaign for the coming Father's Day. The iPad Mini Retina can be purchased online, while the original iPad Mini should be bought in the actual store.

Consumers highly favor the second generation of iPad Mini as it standouts between the two devices. The tablet is regarded to have offered an almost perfect package of features paired with an incredibly low price. However, consumers may take a liking on the first generation of iPad Mini due to the massive price cut.

This is not the first time that previous devices in the iPad line received a discount. Apple itself offered deals on its tablets. Apple slashed $30 educational discount on iPad Air and $20 price off on the iPad Mini Retina. Moreover, Apple also offer refurbished units of iPad tablets for a cheaper price.

However, since retailers and the Apple store are confidently giving discounts to the devices, this hinted the imminent release of their successors. The drop in the price is a major clue that next generations of devices are coming.

Meanwhile, rumors claimed that iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will pack a TouchID fingerprint sensor, A8 processor, iOS 8 and waterproof feature. The tablet was speculated to arrive in October, which is the usual launch window of Apple's tablets. However, there were reports that the tablets could arrive earlier than usual.
