iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 to pack TouchID fingerprint sensor on release date

Apple hinted on its Worldwide Developers' Conference that iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will get a TouchID fingerprint sensor.

One of the biggest revelations in the ongoing Apple's tech event is the confirmation that the company's TouchID will now work with third party apps and will abolish the use of passwords for good.

This opens up the immense possibilities that apps will potentially use TouchID logins and users will simply their thumbprint in the sensor in order to access the app. With this announcement, it will follow that iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will also get the TouchID fingerprint sensor on its release date if third party apps will use it.

This improvement in the feature will also improve the security in accessing your accounts through your smartphones or tablets. Some of the popular daily apps will need iOS 8 updates to add support for the TouchID. Apple showed off during the WWDC 2014 through a live demonstration how TouchID support will be coming to the Mint finance app. Developers have the whole summer to work on the updates for their respective apps.

Meanwhile, rumors claimed that iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will pack a TouchID fingerprint sensor, A8 processor, iOS 8 and waterproof feature. The tablet was speculated to arrive in October, which is the usual launch window of Apple's tablets. The current iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display are offered at a discounted price due to the educational discount given by Apple. The company slashes $30 educational discount on iPad Air and $20 price off on the iPad Mini Retina bringing the price down to $469 and $379. The iPad 4th gen and the first generation of iPad Mini also qualify for the discounts. The discount is for employees of K-12 schools as well as faculty, staff, students, and parents of students at higher education institutions.
