Latest reports state that the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will be released on Oct. 16, which might clash with the launch of one of its rivals, the HTC Nexus 9.

Tech giant Apple recently sent out invites to its press event on the 16th, although the company did not specify which Apple products will be showcased in the event. The invite simply reads, "It's been way too long." It did not offer much clue on what should be anticipated on the event.

Rumors are flying around claiming that the Cupertino-based company will announce the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 as well as refreshed devices, such as Macbook Pro, MacBook Air with Retina Display, iPod Touch 6th Generation, and Smart HDTV. However, Apple is still mum about the details.

Some of the features that will most probably appear on the new generation of iPad Air and iPad Mini are A8 processor, M8 graphics chipset, iOS 8, and Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The new features announced at the previous iPhone event last September, such as iHealth, Apple Pay, and iCloud Integration, are expected to be seen in the new iPads as well.

Meanwhile, Google is also rumored to slip the HTC Nexus 9 in the market on Oct. 16, as a commemoration of its 16th year anniversary. The Nexus 9 tablet is reported to be released alongside the Nexus 6 smartphone and the new Android L operating system. However, Google still has to confirm whether this is true.

Nevertheless, the existence of the tablet is almost confirmed, thanks to the leaks that surfaced on the Internet. It was reported that HTC president of North Asia Jack Tong announced in a press conference held in New York City recently that Nexus 9 is the company's "commitment" to returning to the tablet market after it took a hiatus from making tablets due to slow sales. This can be surmised that the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer is indeed working on a Nexus 9 device.
