iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 release date: Top 5 reasons fans should be excited

Word is getting around that Apple might host another event this year, presumably in October, to finally launch the much-anticipated iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.  If predictions are correct, then the two devices are bound to surprise everyone next month based on the previous releases of the Apple tablets. Aside from the two tablets and its entourage of new features, new devices are also expected to make an appearance at this year's product unveiling.

Below are the top five reasons why fans should watch out for Apple's next event.

Touch ID fingerprint sensor

Apple tablets will most likely pack the company's Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The previous iPad Air and the iPad Mini with Retina display skipped this particular feature last year after the company introduced the fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S. The same feature but with improved aspects appeared in the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Thus, it is safe to assume that the fingerprint scanner will finally arrive to the new generation of iPads.

iOS 8 features

Apple first introduced the iOS 8 at this year's Worldwide Developers' Conference in June followed by a series of betas. The new iOS finally rolled out to Apple devices this month after the company launched the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The new mobile software comes with a myriad of new features such as iHealth and Apple Pay, and is expected to go with the new iPads.

iPod Touch 6G

The tech giant is speculated to unveil the sixth generation of the iPod Touch next month as the music player joins the ranks of the Apple devices that have not yet been updated. iPod Touch 6th Gen is speculated to resemble the new iPhone 6 since the previous iPod Touch looked like the iPhone 5. It is also predicted that the new iPod Touch will come with Touch ID fingerprint sensor, just like to upcoming iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

Mac Mini

Rumors say that the Mac Mini 2014 will be released alongside iPad tablets and will pack OS X Mavericks and will be powered by Iris-integrated Haswell graphics, an Intel i7 4790 processor paired with 16 GB of RAM. It is said that it will be supported by an Intel Graphics Card. Speculators are assuming that it will have the next-gen 802.11ac Wi-Fi for connectivity. Other features include HandOff, AirDrop, MailDrop, and Continuity.

MacBook Pro, Air

All year round, there have been hearsays that the Cupertino-based company will also release new versions of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops packed with the new OS X, displays and processors.
