Almost a month after Apple released iOS 9 to the public, Chinese jailbreak developer Pangu has finally rolled out the iOS 9 jailbreak tool for those who want to remove the restrictions on their iOS-running devices.

Pangu revealed the announcement via Twitter Wednesday, saying that the first untethered jailbreak tool for iOS 9 called Pangu 9 is already available for Apple products that run using the iOS 9 up to iOS 9.0.2.

A lot of Apple device users rely on jailbreak tools to remove the limitations set by the tech giant on the operating system. Through jailbreaking, the access to the iOS file system and manager becomes easier to penetrate to allow the installation of different apps and extensions that are not available on the official App Store.

This means that those who own iOS 9-running devices like iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3 and iPad mini 4, as well as the fifth and sixth generations of iPod touch can start using the Pangu 9 jailbreak tool to install third-party apps and other content from the unofficial App Store called Cydia.

Those who will download the jailbreak tool for the first time should do the following steps:

  • Backup all the content of the device then connect it to a computer via USB.
  • Disable Find My iPhone in the device's Settings by accessing iCloud then clicking Find My iPhone.
  • Disable Passcode and Touch ID options through Settings, then search for the Touch ID and Passcode.
  • Enable the Airplane mode through the Control Center.
  • Download the Pangu 9 jailbreak tool for iOS 9 from the Pangu page and downloads page then run it.
  • Begin the Pangu jailbreak by clicking the Start button and choosing the Already Backup option when the prompt appears.

The device will start rebooting then Pangu will send a prompt to remind the user to put the device back into Airplane mode before the process continues. Once finished, the tool will send a request to open the Pangu app on the device's Home screen.

As soon as the Pangu app is running, it will ask to have an access to the device's Photo Library. The user should accept the request to continue the process by clicking the OK option when the "Pangu Would Like to Access Your Photos" pop-up box appears.

The device will begin rebooting again. Afterwards, disable the Airplane mode to access the Cydia app.

While there are a lot of advantages when using the jailbreak took, Apple users should also keep in mind that jailbreaking the device will also make it vulnerable to potential malware access that could steal personal account details.
