iOS 8 and 8.1 bugs: How to fix issues for iPhone 5S users

The iPhone 5S (Apple)

The iOS 8.1 was meant to put an end to its predecessor's bugs and errors. It was in a big way successful in carrying out the purpose. However, many iPhone 5S users seem to be star-crossed when it comes to this as irksome setbacks keep on pestering an otherwise unspoiled Apple experience. But not to fret, there is always a way out.

The first issue to tackle is the short battery life. As what Gotta Be Mobile pointed out, Apple has yet to devise an enduring solution to completely wipe out the issue but with keen dissection and proper disposition, this may be no more. The site stated that it is possible that this may not at all be the operating system's blunder but rather third-party apps', which are typically susceptible to battery depletion. If this is not the culprit, well, hard reset is neither a help nor a solution.

Courtesy of Gotta Be Mobile, here are a few things to do to deal with different annoying issues.

The biggest decry to date is the chronic Wi-Fi crisis. The iOS 8.1 update failed to kill it off and it still plagues iPhone 5S users. It is becoming prevalent but sadly, no special fix has been settled on. Apple has not answered to it as well. But to give it a shot, users can try resetting their network settings (Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings). In case the problem persists, turning the Wi-Fi on and off (Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services) then rebooting may do magic.

Cellular data problems are not unique to iPhone 5S. This issue involves fluctuating connections. To crack an answer to the issue, users are recommended to turn off then back on the phone's data (Cellular>Cellular Data). An alternate solution is dislodging cellular data by putting the phone on Airplane Mode and toggling it off after 30 seconds.

Bluetooth problems are the real pain in the neck. Users have to lose all their saved settings to have it fixed. Retuning all settings back to default poses a high probability of having the issue fixed (Settings>General>Reset>Reset All settings). This is also the same fix to follow when users start to experience random reboots of their iPhone 6 or when their keyboards lag after turning off the Document & iCloud Data (Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data).

On the other hand, fixing troubles on apps is backbreaking and irresolute. Freezing and crashing apps are either outdated or plain flawed. Getting the latest version may do the job. Unfortunately, defective apps are things only developers could tamper with.

For failed sent messages over a good signal, the fix comes in toggling the iMessage on then off. Reboot the phone if it still endures. The last resort will be resetting network settings (Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings). Even landscape problems now exist. This is when an iPhone gets stuck to the landscape orientation when it's supposed to be in portrait mode. The best thing iPhone users can do is to lock the orientation to portrait (tap the lock icon from Control Center).

If none of these steps help, tech experts on the forums and discussions under various websites can shed light. Due to numerous iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 dilemmas, users and their need to eradicate them brought them to solutions, which are likely temporary. Apple has yet to take all the issues in hand but their patrons hope that they will get to them soon before the threats become more and more menacing and uncontrollable.
