During the Sept. 7 event, Apple had officially unveiled the new iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Watch 2, and the iOS 10 which is already beginning to roll out for Apple devices like the iPhone 6s. With a new iOS version released, it is said that Pangu is already hard at work to jailbreak it.
It was previously reported that the Pangu team had successfully launched a jailbreak tool for iOS 9.3.4. However, Apple almost immediately released iOS 9.3.5, invalidating the jailbreak since the upgrade introduced new security measures that blocked the jailbreak from working.
Now, Pangu is reportedly skipping out on jailbreaking iOS 9.3.5 and will focus entirely on iOS 10 instead. The report states that there have been multiple successes in jailbreaking the beta versions of iOS 10, and it is possible that Pangu will release an iOS 10 jailbreak tool in the upcoming days before Apple manages to release a new update.
Mobile N Apps also states that Pangu is likely to release the iOS 10 jailbreaking tool by October, roughly a month after the official release of iOS 10. This will ensure that consumers can get a hold of it and use it to jailbreak their Apple devices before an update, such as iOS 10.1 or 10.2, are released.
Jailbreaking frees a phone from the restrictions placed by Apple. While this is done primarily to run homebrew apps that normally would not be offered in the Apple App Store, it is most rampantly used to install pirated apps that normally cost money, allowing many consumers to get away with piracy.
A jailbroken phone often uses the Cydia app store to find, download, and install apps on the device since it would no longer be able to access the Apple App Store or sync with iTunes. Because of this, jailbreaking can lead to security breaches. To combat all these issues, piracy included, Apple constantly updates their OS with new security features.
