The upcoming science fiction film "Inversion" has been keeping its doors closed for some time, with the only key information being the involvement of "Vikings" star Travis Fimmel as the lead actor. It has now been revealed that Chinese star Liu Yifei and Samuel L. Jackson have both signed on for the film as well.

Jackson is known for playing Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and for projects such as "Pulp Fiction," "The Hateful Eight" and "Kingsman: The Secret Service." According to Variety, he will be playing a senior investigator from the Homeland Security division.

The actor is going to appear next in "xXx: Return of Xander Cage" and "Kong: Skull Island." He also has a role in Brie Larson's directorial debut, "Unicorn Store." It is uncertain when he may appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yifei is a widely known actress and singer in Asia but she has had a few films released in North America as well, including "Forbidden Kingdom" which also starred Jackie Chan and Jet Li. She also starred in "The Four" and its sequels and the movie "The Assassins." She is popularly known as Crystal Liu or Fairy Sister.

She will be seen next in the Chinese films "Once Upon a Time" and the upcoming war drama titled "The Chinese Widow."

"Inversion" will follow an American con-man, played by Fimmel, as well as a Chinese physicist, played by Yifei, as they work to save the planet after Earth suffers from a loss of gravity. Fimmel, the lead star, is known for his roles in "Vikings" and the recent fantasy film and video game adaptation of "Warcraft."

Paul Haggis, David Arata, and Bragi Schut have penned the script for the film and it will be directed by Peter Segal. According to the report, it will begin production by Feb. 27, 2017, with principal photography taking place in Berlin and filming moving on to Shanghai and Chicago.

No official release date for "Inversion" has yet been announced.
