Apple recently unveiled a slew of new products, including the highly anticipated iPhone 6s. But according to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is also set to release a new 21.5-inch 4K iMac next week. The report cites that store shelves will start offering the new iMac onn Tuesday, Oct. 13.
With that said, the report indicates that purchasing the new model might be difficult as supplies will be low until November, when larger quantities will be mass produced.
According to the report, the new model will resemble the 21.5-inch non-4K iMac. Therefore, aesthetically, they will remain the same. The main highlight of the new iMac will be its 4096 x 2304 resolution and an updated, faster graphics card that will offer optimal use of the improved screen resolution.
However, there is no indication at this point that the new iMac will come with a brand new processor. The iMac lineup has not yet seen a new processor since the release of the 25-inch Retina display model.
It is also noted that the new iMac will most likely be bundled with Mac OS-X El Capitan. The report also cites that Apple is currently developing a new Magic Mouse 2 that will feature improved Force Touch integration and a Bluetooth keyboard with improved battery life. However, it is unclear if either product will be ready to launch together with the 4K 21.5-inch iMac.
Releasing the new 4K 21.5-inch iMac will mark the first update for the non-retina display iMac lineup since 2013, explains a report from MacWorld, not counting the newer, cheaper model that was released in 2014.
A report from PC Mag states that the timing of the new iMac's release would be a good opportunity for Apple given that they just released the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and also plan on releasing the new Apple TV by the end of October and the iPad Pro in November.
