HTC One M9 'Hima' release to clash with Samsung Galaxy S6 launch ahead of MWC

Two of the highly anticipated smartphones this quarter, the HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6, may clash ahead of the Mobile World Congress. There is a big chance that the two handsets may have the same release dates.

It may not be long before the successor of the HTC One M8 will see the light of day as the Taiwan-based mobile manufacturer sent out invitations to a mystery event on March 1 to the members of the press. The press invite has a starry background with "utopia in progress" as a tagline. The event will take place in Barcelona, which is also the location of the trade show kicking off on March 2. Predictions have arisen claiming that the company will announce the HTC One M9 at the said press event.

It was previously reported that HTC will hold a launching event after the tech conference, but it seems that the manufacturer had a change of heart and will try to get more attention by releasing the handset ahead of everything else. This has happened in the past as manufacturers try to get ahead of the competition by putting out their bets out there early on. Gadget watchers saw some phone makers grabbing attention a day or two before the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month.

However, the HTC One M9 may run across the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. Based on its previous releases, the handset might appeare before the MWC in Barcelona. With HTC dropping the bomb that it will release its handset, it is unknown if Samsung will change its plan this year.

The HTC One M9 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 may share similar specs like a 5-inch screen panel with quad HD resolution as well as Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 SoC and Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system.

However, HTC and Samsung have not spilled the details yet about their respective handsets.
