'House of Cards' season 4 premiere: launch in March 2016

 Netflix

"House of Cards" season 4 is one of the most anticipated shows of 2016. Netflix has not yet given any official announcement regarding the show's premiere and the cast have only recently begun discussing the show with the press now that production is coming to a close. One report, though, speculates the season may launch in March.

According to Fansided, there is a high possibility the season will launch specifically on March 11, 2016. The date falls on a Friday, which coincides with Netflix's common practice of launching new seasons and shows at the end of the week.

Netflix began practicing this for some time now. Netflix shows, unlike most cable television networks, launch all the episodes of a show at once. This allows fans to binge watch without having to wait for the next episode to release. Because they launch on Fridays, there is a higher chance of more viewers streaming the episodes over the weekend.

Another factor taken into consideration is the launch date of previous seasons. The report points out that each season has launched exactly a year and 13 days apart from each other. Season 1 launched on Feb. 1, 2012 while season 2 launched on Feb. 14, 2013. Season 3 launched on Feb. 27 of this year.

If Netflix continues with this pattern then the next date in line will be March 11, 2016. It might be later into the spring season but this may give Netflix more room to launch some of their newer shows. Netflix is already being loaded with new programs such as "Jessica Jones" and "Longmire" so some re-scheduling may be required.

While all of this does seem to be the likely scenario, it is all still based on speculation. No official release date has yet been announced and it is likely Netflix will not release the information until there is a trailer ready to show the public. It is likely a release date will be announced sometime in January 2016.
