Microsoft's Hololens, the company's entry into the virtual reality market, will start shipping early next year.
To be more specific, the Hololens is currently on schedule to be shipped to software developers early next year, according to CNet.
With the virtual reality, or augmented reality, headset scheduled to ship by the first quarter of 2016, there stands a chance that the device could also be made available to consumers later on in that year, although that has not been confirmed.
Microsoft has also indicated that the version of the Hololens they will be shipping in early 2016 will most likely not be the one that ends up being made available to consumers.
At this point, there's still not much known about the Hololens and its present construction, although some details have managed to come out.
According to PC Advisor UK, the Hololens will feature three different processors, known as the CPU, GPU and HPU. The Hololens has been outfitted with numerous sensors to provide a better environment for the users to experience. Some of the sensors known to be available in the Hololens include a magnetometer, gyroscope, and also an accelerometer. There will also be a depth sensor included in the Hololens.
Microsoft has also outfitted the Hololens with a microphone array to help the device itself accurately record and execute the voice commands being dispersed by the user.
The device will also be featuring a camera that will allow its users to share video of their experiences inside augmented reality with their friends.
There's also not a long list of games that has been confirmed for the Hololens as of now, although one notable title is "Minecraft." The game is expected to be the first one that will be made available for the Hololens, and it also promises to provide a different kind of "Minecraft" experience than what players might have enjoyed previously.
