'GTA 5' problems: New patch fixes low frame-rate issues caused by title update 1.28

The frame-rate issues that have been bugging "GTA 5" PC players since the previous "GTA Online" update is now being addressed by a new patch released by Rockstar Games.

The game studio first received reports about the "considerable" frame-rate issues in "GTA 5" for PC when the title update 1.28 came out. It contained the two-part "Ill-Gotten Gains" DLC, which brought several luxury and high-end items like gold-plated aircrafts, luxury car covers, expensive clothing brands, and top-notch automobiles. But the arrival of these high-end items caused lower frame rates, which could even go as low as  3 frames per second.

The company released a statement on their community site saying that the issue is already resolved with their latest patch. The 91 MB patch is already available for download, as long as the game is connected to the Internet.

However, the game studio said that those who are using Story Mode mods may function differently after downloading the new patch since mods are still unsupported.

Earlier, the developers of the widely used LCPD First Response mod accused Rockstar for intentionally adding anti-modding features in the 1.28 update, which caused the low frame-rate problems. A post on their Facebook account said: "In the latest update for GTA V, Ill Gotten Gains Part 2, Rockstar Games strengthened their protections against modding introduced in the first update."

However, the studio denied the claims, saying that they are not preventing mods from being used in the game, but they are still not supporting it because it can promote unfair playing benefits. In their community post, Rockstar stated that they "are not actively targeting players using mods in Story Mode, nor are we explicitly implementing protections against them in-game."

Still, they reiterated that their main focus is to protect "GTA Online" from mods that might encourage unfair playing advantage or cause gameplay disruption.
