"Grey's Anatomy" ended its mid-season with tons of cliffhangers, all of which will be answered when the show returns in January. And along with the show's return is a new character who will be joining the regular cast.
According to Michael Ausiello of TV Line, a character named Travis will be introduced. Travis is a 30-something transgender. He will make the transition from a man to woman, and he will become close to a someone from the hospital. Ausiello did say that there's still a possibility for the storyline to change.
As for the regular cast, they are still embroiled in a lot of drama. For one, there's the huge fight between Derek and Meredith that forced Derek to accept the job in Washington. And there's the cooling off between half-sisters Meredith and Maggie, with the latter wanting to reconnect with her father. Furthermore, there's the revelation that Dr. Herman may be cured after all. And of course, the fate of Jackson and April's baby is on the line. In the last episode, Jackson overheard Dr. Herman and Stephanie talking about his baby.
Actress Caterina Scorsone, who plays Amelia Shepherd in the show, shares her opinion about the infant, saying that she believes that the baby will resonate with her character's backstory.
"I'm a fan of the show too so I'm just so excited to see it return! I can't wait to see how all the particular stories unfold. But I am—well, I don't want to say excited, because that's not the right word—I'm drawn into Kepner and Avery's baby story in part because it resonates so deeply in Amelia's backstory. She had a really difficult journey with her baby. It will be incredibly interesting to see how their story plays out," Scorsone told E! Online.
"Grey's Anatomy" will return on Jan. 29, 2015.
