GoPro Hero 5 release date and rumors roundup

GoPro Hero 4 GoPro Inc.

The GoPro Hero 5 appears like it is set to be the best action camera device in the market, a title that recently has been tossed to the cheaper Xiaomi Yi Action Camera. A previous report from Value Walk listed down most of the features that the GoPro Hero 5 may have but a new report from Venture Capital Post indicates several more.

The camera is set to feature the A10 chip, a new processor that will make it faster and more powerful, enabling it to take the high resolution photos and videos that an action camera such as this will be expected to handle.

According to VCPost, the GoPro Hero 5 will feature a dual-lens set-up. This might simply be used for taking different kinds of videos simultaneously but many speculate that this will allow the camera to take 3D videos with little adjustment required. If this is true, then this may be one of the smallest 3D cameras in the market unless the rumored iPhone 7 follows up with its own dual lens design.

In terms of framerate and resolution, reports indicate that the GoPro Hero 5 will be capable of 4k Ultra HD video recording at a sustainable 60 frames per second rate. However, according to Value Walk it might be possible that the GoPro Hero 5 may go one step further and sustain a 120 fps even while recording at a 1080p resolution.

What this means is that sports enthusiasts will be able to record the smoothest and clearest videos possible. While not many televisions can accomodate 4K UHD video playing, it is only a matter of time until it becomes the standard resolution across the board, eventually overtaking LCD and OLED televisions.

As for its release date, a report from VCPost hints at an October 2015 release but given that the device is most likely going to be delayed, fans might have to wait until Q1 2016.
