The Nexus 5 has become popular because of its friendly price tag. The price went further down due to the imminent release date of its successor.
Online trade website eBay currently offers a discounted Nexus 5 handset, which is a very attractive deal for buyers who do not anticipate the release of the Google Nexus 6. The 16GB version of the Google Nexus 5 is now priced $334.99, while the 32GB variant costs $374.99.
These brand new units of Nexus 5 with model number D820 were offered free of shipping. However, this is not a deciding factor since the Google Play Store also offers free shipping, except for New York and New Jersey-based consumers who have to pay taxes for the 32GB variant of the smartphone.
One of the best indications that a new smartphone is coming is that prices are going down. Google Nexus 6 release date will most likely take place in October or November. The aforementioned time frame has been the official release date window of the Google Nexus smartphone. This will ensure that the device will make an appearance just right before the gift-giving season.
This is backed up by the statement of Google's exec Sundar Pichai at the MWC 2014 last February where he hinted that the Nexus smartphone will arrive in the second half of the year.
Meanwhile, Google Nexus 6 is rumored to pack high end specs that includes a 64-bit version of its Snapdragon 800-series chipset clocked at 3 GHz; 5.2-inch full-HD, curved LCD display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass; 3 GB RAM; 13 MP camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera; Bluetooth; NFC; Micro-USB; Wi-Fi; and 4G. However, Google has not confirmed any of the aforementioned rumors.
Moreover, Nexus devices were not only famous for their specs and features but also to their incredibly low price. Currently, the Nexus 5 16GB costs $349, while the 32GB model costs $399. Google may offer the handset at the same prices.
