'Game of Thrones' season 5 spoilers: George R.R. Martin hints death of fan favorite Tyrion Lannister

Game of Thrones season 4 episode 6 HBO

"Game Of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin hinted that he will pen the death of Tyrion Lannister.

The upcoming book "Winds of Winter" is nearing its release and it is speculated that Tyrion Lannister will be killed off in the said book. Fans speculated that he will be out of the picture soon.

When the author was asked whether this is true, he gave an evading answer to Hollywood Reporter. "Well, I did cut off his nose, so... They say that you write what you want to read and you create in television what you want to watch. I love shows that are unpredictable. I like shows to be more real. Predictable shows and books bore me. I want to be on the edge of my seat. So, the deaths are important and at all times necessary."

This is despite the fact that George R.R. Martin once said that Tyrion Lannister is his favorite character. He added that it was always easy for him to write about Tyrion.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the filming of "Game of Thrones" season 5 has started. Web site Winter Is Coming consolidated tweets from various sources claiming that the filming for the next season already began. The show tends to begin shooting in July until November. The web site added that the production has started in Northern Ireland where most of the sets of the show are located.

"Game of Thrones" season 5 will feature some of the familiar locations in the series. There were reports that the big HBO production has scouted Croatia to be a setting for the fifth season. Reports also claimed that the cast and crew are heading to Iceland to film a very limited amount of daylight hour before transferring to Spain to shoot the Dorne scenes for the popular TV show.
