'Game of Thrones' season 5 episode 4: 'Sons of the Harpy' will focus on themes of vengeance

The Sand Snake Nymeria in Game of Thrones HBO

The trailer for the fourth of episode Game of Thrones season 5, "Sons of the Harpy," has just been released and it shows a glimpse of several revolving plots for vengeance. The episode will focus primarily on Mereen, King's Landing, and Dorne.

A good portion of the trailer shows the Sons of the Harpy launching their rebellion against Daenerys in Mereen. The group is comprised of people who detest her soverignity and her decision to abolish slavery in a land where slavery is one of the cornerstones of economy.

Several scenes also indicate that Daenerys will continue to struggle as she tries to maintain order in her new land. After being forced to chain down her dragons and execute one of her own, the upcoming episode may delve deeper into her political troubles as even her own people no longer want her sitting on the throne of Mereen.

Jaime Lannister was not seen in the previous episode but it was noted that he and Bronn headed south to Dorne to rescue the princess Myrcella, now portrayed by Nell Tiger Free. Ellaria Sand, the paramour of the late Prince Oberyn Martell, plots for vengeance and will recruit the help of Oberyn's bastard daughters, known as the Sand Snakes.

This will be the debut of the Sand Snakes, played by Jessica Henwick, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers. In the original source material, it was Ser Arys Oakheart who traveled to Dorne instead of Jaime but Arys was killed and Myrcella was severely injured, allegedly killed.

At King's Landing, Cersei Lannister is plotting vengeance against the more popular Queen Margaery Tyrell. It is possible that she may use her popularity or even her brother Ser Loras against her. However, tensions rise from the militant religious groups led by the High Sparrow. Fans should expect the High Sparrow to finally take center stage as he fights Cersei. "Game of Thrones" season 5 episode 4 "Sons of the Harpy" airs May 3 on HBO. Alternatively, it can be watched online through live stream with HBO GO.
