Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: latest Samsung flagship to meet a formidable sibling

The big buzz has been around the Samsung Galaxy S5, pictured

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the South Korean company's hottest Galaxy S smartphone available in the market. Reviews have not been very gracious toward the Samsung flagship when put side by side with other formidable handsets in the turf, but rumor has it that Samsung is in the process of shaping a redoubtable device in its attempt to go up from its shaky post and to a sales feat.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is the latest buzz both in the online world and in the real one. Sam Mobile dishes out that the future Samsung phone is being crafted from scratch and is codenamed Project Zero. The site even provided some specs likely to grace the forthcoming phone. The promising features mentioned were enough to invite the S6 in a matchup with its would-be predecessor, the Galaxy S5.

The S5 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display that generates 1080 x 1920 pixels and 423 pixel density. Details are decently crisp with that one. The S6, as expected, is set to top that with its Quad HD 2560 × 1440 display. Noticeably, details regarding the display size are still unavailable, although previous reports suggested a 0.1-inch increase from the S5.

Meanwhile, BGR also reported that the S6 will "feature a dual-edged screen which is curved on the right and left side," quoting IHD Technology senior analyst Jerry Kang. Media outlets also hope for Samsung to ditch plastic and faux metal and leather and have the S6 adapt the streamlined metal finish of the Galaxy A3 and A5.

Sam Mobile added that the hardware will be majorly upped. The Galaxy S5 houses a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and 2 GB RAM but the S6 will be loaded with the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with the spanking new octa-core Exynos 7420 as its processor. This is to complement the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. Furthermore, it is also said that Samsung has built an in-house LTE modem for seamless LTE connectivity, to replace the current Intel modem it uses for previous phones.

The Galaxy S5 boasts a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. It remains a mystery whether Samsung will stick with the same snapper gauge or upgrade it to an impressive 20 megapixels. What's sure though is that the S6 will be given a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, almost threefold its predecessor. Moreover, the S6 is set to accommodate larger storage capacities such as 32, 64 and 128 GB. The S5 has two smaller options for users, 16 GB and 32 GB.

Other essential information is still off the beaten track since the next-generation handset is still in its embryonic stage.
