iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5: Samsung in trouble upon the launch of a larger Apple phone?

Samsung Galaxy S5

Days after the release of the iPhone 6, users were keen to notice that the first big-screen Apple phone only took a step back with its 'new' features that already existed two years ago. But even though praise seemed to be geared in the direction of Samsung's Galaxy S5, it was recently reported that the South Korean company's sales do not reflect the impressive feedback.  Samsung suffered a 60 percent sales plunge.

From last year's £6 billion ($9.5 billion), the sales dramatically dropped to £2.4 billion  ($3.8 billion) — the lowest Samsung has generated in the past three years. And it is most likely due to Apple's 4.7 inch iPhone.

"The iPhone 6 will be a significant threat to Samsung," said IBK analyst Lee Seung-woo, a statement that was proven accurate with Samsung's recent severe sales plummet.

Comparing the specifications of the two devices, the 5.1-inch display of the Galaxy S5 from Samsung (as expected from the company who is fond of making big phones) displays sharp images with its 920 x 1080 resolution, while the iPhone 6 is close with 1334 x 750 resolution attributed to its 4,7-inch screen size. Even though built bigger than its predecessors, the iPhone 6 is only 0.27 inches thin, with internal storage of up to a whopping 128GB. The S5, on the other hand, incorporates a maximum of 32GB internal memory to its 0.32-inch thickness.

Apple has also integrated a 64-bit A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor into a sleek and quick iOS 8, which produces quite a good combination in terms of speed and efficiency. Android, on the other hand, made it a point to give Galaxy S5 users a seamless experience with Android apps made to run in .5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU.

In terms of camera and imaging, users who love selfies and video chats will see the Galaxy S5 being a notch higher with its 16-megapixel rear camera partnered with a 2-megapixel front cam. The iPhone 6 sports an 8-megapixel rear and a 1.2-megapixel front shooter.
