Franklin Graham pays tribute to veterans: 'I don't want to even think where we would be without them'

The American nation honours the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives in serving the country every Nov. 11, which is known as Veterans Day. Evangelist Franklin Graham is one of the countless Americans who are grateful for their selfless service, and he wants to honour them with thanks and prayers.

"I thank God for all those who have sacrificed to serve in our nation's military. I don't want to even think where we would be without them," he writes on his Facebook page. "These men and women put their lives in harm's way for our protection and our freedom — and we should express our gratitude to God and to them every chance we get, not just on Veterans Day. Let our vets know how truly grateful we are!"

Aside from America's veterans, another figure that Graham looks up to as a hero is his own father Billy Graham, who blazed the trail for Christianity during the 1940s. Billy inspired large crowds every time he held indoor and outdoor rallies, and he has already brought numerous people to God.

Billy is such a dedicated messenger of God that he even became the spiritual adviser of several American presidents, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon.

Interestingly, Franklin revealed that his father almost did not become an evangelist given his love for baseball. "Did you know that at one time, my father Billy Graham thought he wanted to be a professional baseball player? Even though God had a different plan for his life, he did get to travel to a lot of baseball stadiums — not to play, but to preach the Gospel. To me, every time he shared the Gospel, he hit a home run!" he says.
