Ubisoft has announced that "For Honor" is kicking off a winter event called "Frost Wind Festival" later this week.

From Dec. 21 to Jan. 4, everything will turn cold in the action video game, as "For Honor" introduces new battle gear, mood effects and emotes, which could be obtained by playing any game mode in the event.

The "Frost Wind Festival" will also bring winter-themed rewards, which the players can maximize to customize their heroes.

For a limited time, players will get access to a new mask outfit, which will be distinct per faction. This will be available for a discounted price of 15,000 steel per Hero.

A new mode called Ice Brawlers will be introduced as a new setting for two against two Brawl matches. This will be set on the surface of a frozen lake, where the thin ice begins to crack as the match wears on, an additional deadly hazard for players.

From Dec. 28, a bundle of winter-themed items will also be released, and will change based on the player's previously owned items.

The trailer below shows first glimpse of what the winter action would look like.

Prior to the event's launch, "For Honor" has also released update 1.17 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The patch notes include a series of bug fixes, as well as a few tweaks on an array of fighters.

In the new update, skill values for Matchmaking will be rebalanced to ensure that players are not pitted against others with much more skills.

The patch notes also include two new Ranked modes on the War called Ranked Dominion Beta and Duel Tournaments Beta. Ubisoft says this was done to increase the visibility of ranked activities, and ultimately attract more players to the modes.

The 1.17 "For Honor" patch weighs in at around 800 MB to 1 GB on all platforms and is out now.
