Fitbit is set to release the newest addition to its wearable activity trackers. Dubbed the Alta, this wearable device, according to Fitbit, can be worn for five full days without the need for a recharge.

The new Fitbit Alta will be one of the latest additions to wearable technology gadgets in the market, but it is more inclined toward the fitness buffs of the populace. The Fitbit Alta can be wirelessly synced to a smartphone or a computer to keep track of one's steps, distance traveled, burned calories and active minutes. It can recognize several kinds of exercise and keeps track of it without the user pushing any buttons. It can also remind its wearer to move or to be active all throughout the day when it detects no movements for a specific period of time.

The Fitbit Alta can give notifications for calls, texts and calendar alerts. However, it will not be able to give weather reports and email notifications.

One of the upsides of this Fitbit device is the ability of its user to change its bands. Accessory bands such as metal, leather or just the classic are available to suit one's style. The tracker unit is enclosed in a silver-colored casing, which makes it completely protected from sweat, rain and splashes when doing fitness-related activities and it comes with the classic band. The band is offered in four different colors: black, blue, plum and teal. The clock face can also be personalized, either vertical or horizontal, for the user's stats. It can also keep track of its user's sleeping habit, plus it offers a silent alarm or a vibrate mode when it is time to start the day.

Additional metal bracelets can be purchased for $99.95, leather bands for $59.95, while an extra classic band costs $29.95.

The Fitbit Alta also comes in three different sizes: small, for 5.5- to 6.7-inch wrists; large, for 6.7- to 8.1-inch wrists; and XL, for 8.1- to 9.3-inch wrists.

The company is taking pre-orders for the Fitbit Alta, at $ 129.95, but no release date has been set yet.
