While fans of "The Walking Dead" are still reeling from the events that happened in its midseason finale, new details about "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 have been officially revealed by AMC.

AMC officially announced the production of the sophomore season of "Fear the Walking Dead" via the network's official website.

"AMC has announced the start of production for Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead — the No. 1 new series in cable history — on location in the Baja peninsula of Mexico. Executive produced by showrunner Dave Erickson, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert, Fear the Walking Dead returns for a second season of 15 episodes next spring," the network said.

Showrunner Dave Erickson said that the rest of the cast and crew were very excited to start the filming of the new season of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 in a new location. He also said that bringing the set of season 2 in Mexico is a good move for the network.

"Baja Studios has been home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years and provides all the creative resources we need to begin this new chapter in the 'Fear' saga," Erickson revealed. "We couldn't be happier."

At the end of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 1, couple Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and their respective children were last seen in Victor Strand's (Colman Domingo) seaside villa where they decided to hide from the walkers. But Strand suggested that they should all board his yacht so they could escape the dangers lurking in the city.

The first season ended without showing whether the group reached the yacht or not.

But because of the new details surrounding the second season of "Fear the Walking Dead," the group seems to have successfully reached the ocean without being bitten by the zombies.

"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
